With the real Formula 1 season suspended for now, our favourite drivers have turned their focus to learning the ins and outs in the Virtual Grand Prix, and we can expect this trend to continue for the next few weeks.
Charles Leclerc made his winning debut last week when they raced in Albert Park along with his fellow drivers, and perhaps that should serve as a consolation since the real Australian Grand Prix was cancelled earlier this year due to the COVID-19 pandemic.
On other news, racing legend Stirling Moss passed away at his London home recently. He was 90 years old.
“He died as he lived, looking wonderful. He is simply tired in the end and he just closed his beautiful eyes and that was that,” said his wife Lady Moss.

Stirling Moss (1929-2020)
Formula 1 legend Sir Stirling Moss passed away last Sunday at his house in London as confirmed by his wife Lady Moss.
The England native was distinguished as one of the sports pioneers despite never winning a Formula 1 championship. Widely regarded as one of the best racers of all time, Moss recorded 212 victories in 529 races for his illustrious career.
Between 1951 and 1961, Moss won 16 Formula 1 races and was even a Formula 1 championship runner-up on four occasions along with three third place finishes.
Among those 212 wins, his most memorable one was back in 1955 when he endured a torturous road race at the Mille Miglia which lasted up to 1000 miles. It was regarded as the most impressive drive in motor sport history which effectively etched his name in the annals of the sport.
His time at the paddocks came to an abrupt end in 1962 when he was involved in an unfortunate accident in Goodwood in a no-bearing race. At the time, Moss was in a coma for a month and was partially paralysed but he recovered. Unfortunately though, that signaled the end of his professional career.
But the Englishman’s legacy is not limited to the race track. Aptly called as “Mr. Motor Racing”, he made the sport famous around the globe because of his undeniable charm and marketability. Upon recognising his commercial worth, Moss was shrewd enough to negotiate various sponsorship deals to further promote the sport and himself as well.
Stirling Moss, in his Formula 1 career, drove for the likes of Mercedes, Maserati, Vanwall, Lotus, and HWM. He made a brief return to racing by touring cars in the early 80’s and continued to drive several historic cars until he was 81 years old.
Moss was inducted into the International Motorsports Hall of Fame in 1990. He was even knighted by Prince Charles for services to motor racing a decade later. All in all, Moss’ life after his pro career flourished as he became a commentator, author, and a celebrity.
Sebastian Vettel, Ferrari show mutual love
Despite murmurs about his future with the Scuderia, Sebastian Vettel seems to be content driving for the team at least for now.
Many believe that working under Ferrari is difficult since most would view their working environment as a rigid one. The Maranello outfit is often seen as a luxurious mansion but filled with skeletons on the inside.
But during a recent interview with Motorsport.com, Sebastian Vettel dispels those rumours saying that Ferrari is all about passion, nostalgia, and history.
“The strength of this team is the passion for Ferrari. I think that’s what thrives people coming in and going out every day. It’s very Italian inside, has very Italian rules and traditions, which is great that they are kept. But equally, it’s very modern,” said Vettel.
“Sometimes also this is misunderstood. People are still very forward-thinking and we have a lot of young great talents in the team, great people with great ideas,” he added.
“Seb is a genuine and straightforward person. He loves his job, and that’s one of the reasons why as well as Ferrari, we appreciate him so much,” said Ferrari principal Matthia Binotto on Sebastian Vettel.
It has been 13 years since the Prancing Horse last won the Formula 1 Championship and their Formula 1 2020 odds aren’t favourable either. But should they keep their solid core of Vettel and Leclerc, you can expect Ferrari to bring the fight to every race.
