After three eventful races in Austria and in Hungary, all eyes and cars will be at the Silverstone Circuit for the British Grand Prix.
This weekend’s race will continue to feature the world’s best drivers and constructors, as they go on with their journey trying to grab as much points as they can in the Formula 1 standings.
The Silver Arrows are the outright leading constructors with 121 points while Red Bull Racing and McLaren have placed second and third with 55 and 41 points apiece.
As for the drivers, Lewis Hamilton and Valtteri Bottas lead the way with 63 and 58 points each, while Max Verstappen is at third with 33 points.
This event in Silverstone is expected to be held on closed doors. But even if we won’t see the action live at the paddock, we should still get our healthy dose of British Grand Prix 2020 highlights.

Sergio Perez tests positive for COVID-19
Racing Point will be missing a key cog to their lineup as Sergio Perez is not expected to participate in this weekend’s festivities.
The Mexican driver was confirmed to have tested positive for COVID-19 days after several reports came out that he might miss the event at Silverstone.
Right now, Perez is on quarantine, which is why Racing Point will have to find a viable substitute who will take his place.
The British outfit has options to choose from. They can bring in reserve drivers such as Esteban Gutierrez or Stoffel Vandoorne, but they are inexperienced at the top division.
Which is why they are expected to bring in a familiar face that could help them right away, and that would be Nico Hulkenberg.
Hulkenberg is currently listed as a participant at the ADAC GT Masters series which will happen on August 15 to 16 at Nurburgring, so there shouldn’t be any schedule conflict when he will drive this Sunday.
“The Hulk” has been vocal of wanting to return to racing in Formula 1 since 2019, and he will finally get his chance.
Red Bull aiming for a better performance
While Max Verstappen stole the show in the Hungarian Grand Prix when he prevented a Mercedes 1-2 finish, that isn’t enough for Red Bull Racing as they will try to pull out all the stops in order to catch up with the Silver Arrows.
For them to do so, Red Bull would have to work as hard as ever to resolve the issues surrounding the RB16 car, which has seen Max Verstappen and Alex Albon struggle mightily this year particularly in low-speed corners.
Besides the knife-edge nature of the RB16, it also lacks the outright speed to compete with some of the best out there like the Mercedes W11 car.
“We are still learning about the car. But we’re working on it and we’ll just find out by trying it on track as well if we’re heading in the right direction,” admitted Verstappen.
Red Bull will be coming in this weekend as the underdogs since they have low British Grand Prix 2020 odds for a podium finish.
Mercedes are the favourites, as usual
The Silver Arrows are the heavy favourites to win in this contest and they are expected to cruise by the competition come Sunday.
They have the car that everyone envies performance-wise and they have the drivers in Bottas and Hamilton to get the job done.
Valtteri Bottas momentarily took the drivers lead when he finished first in the Austrian Grand Prix, but he was eventually overtaken by Lewis Hamilton after back-to-back wins in the Steiermark and Hungarian Grand Prix events.
Hamilton has won so many times already in the Silverstone Circuit. Barring any unforeseen circumstances, he should win this Sunday’s event with ease.
History
Lewis Hamilton owns the all-time record for most victories at the Silverstone Circuit with six total wins.
He first won there back in 2008 when he was still driving for McLaren. Despite starting from the fourth position on the grid, the British driver defied the odds by winning over the likes of Nick Heidfield and Rubens Barrichello.
What are the odds?
Lewis Hamilton is the heavy favourite to win. Which is why when being compared to other drivers, the British international is priced at 1.44 compared to only 2.61 for the others.
Considering his form during the last two Grand Prix races, it will be hard to see him lose in this one, although Valtteri Bottas has a decent chance to do so.
Moreover, I expect a 1-2 finish for the Silver Arrows. However, the last spot in the podium will be up for grabs.
