It’s Time to Take a Look at the Rising Foals!

Hertha BSC 2-4 Borussia Monchengladbach

Though most eyes were focused on the rise of Bayern Munich, Borussia Monchengladbach are also making their case as another Bundesliga team to watch out for.

After finishing ninth last campaign, few sports betting experts expected them to contend at the top this year. However, the Foals surprised online gambling with their terrific start to the season that saw them win six and draw three of their opening 12 football games.

Now, Dieter Hecking’s men are third on the league table following a blistering attacking performance against the struggling capital club that have only won once in their last seven top-flight fixtures.

Raffael led the visitors at Berlin with a double on both sides of halftime, including the 77th-minute strike that drained Hertha all their hopes of a comeback.

Gladbach showed the home side why they are the real deal as they jumped to a 3-0 lead within 20 minutes. Lars Stindl opened the scoring in the fifth minute with a close-range finish before Thorgan Hazard doubled their lead from the spot.

Shortly afterwards, Raffael fired from well outside the box—a goal which seemed to have put the result beyond doubt.

However, Hertha didn’t falter and managed to pull one back through a Vedad Ibisevic goal at the half hour. They also had their hopes up when Mitchell Weiser converted off a Salomon Kalou assist to cut Gladbach’s lead to just one with 20 minutes remaining.

Raffael, nonetheless, ruined Hertha’s momentum and piled more misery on them as he completed his brace. Patrick Herrmann teed up the 32-year-old Brazilian nicely from inside the box to give him space for their fourth goal.

With the result, Gladbach are now just two points behind second-placed RB Leipzig, who played out a 2-2 draw with the surging Bayer Leverkusen.

Bayern Munich, meanwhile, continued to take control of the top spot with a dominant 3-0 display against Augsburg. Robert Lewandowski grabbed a double in the game to help give manager Jupp Heynckes his 500th Bundesliga win as a player and coach.

On the other hand, Borussia Dortmund are now down to fourth place after their 2-1 defeat to VfB Stuttgart. It didn’t help BVB that they suspended star striker Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang for “disciplinary reasons.”

Elsewhere, Wolfsburg and Mainz both bagged a win in their respective matches, while Hoffenheim and Eintracht Frankfurt shared the spoils.
