Serie A: Champions League or Bust for This Trio

After winning 2-0 against Parma last week, Inter Milan are officially the Serie A champions this year with three games to spare, and they followed it up with back-to-back wins against Lazio, including the Coppa Italia final that secured their domestic double.

The Nerazzurri can relax (if they want to) in the final two matchdays of the 2025-26 campaign. However, the same can’t be said for the teams below them who are eager to clinch their European football berths next season.

With only four Champions League spots available, Napoli, Juventus, AC Milan, AS Roma, and even Como will aim to join Inter Milan. Napoli are second with 70 points, and Juventus are third with 68. Fourth-seeded AC Milan and fifth-seeded AS Roma have 67 points apiece, and Como are the sixth seed with 65 points.

Today, SBOTOP previews the notable Italian top-flight matches this weekend, along with the best Serie A 2026 odds.

Genoa vs AC Milan

AC Milan plan to return to winning ways when they visit Genoa at the Luigi Ferraris Stadium on Sunday, as they plan to clinch their Champions League berth next term. Max Allegri’s men are winless in their last three, including back-to-back losses against Sassuolo (2-0) and Atalanta (3-2). As a result, they slid to fourth place.

The Rossoneri badly missed the services of Christian Pulisic and Davide Bartesaghi last time out, and the duo has been upgraded to questionable for this weekend’s match against Genoa. Pulisic is AC Milan’s second-leading scorer with eight goals and three assists, while Bartesaghi is one of the squad’s most versatile defenders. Pulisic and Bartesaghi’s impending return helps AC Milan in compensating for the suspensions of Rafael Leao, Pervis Estupinan, and Fikayo Tomori.

Genoa are 14th in the Italian top-flight standings with 41 points, and Daniele De Rossi’s side is on a three-game winless run (D2, L1). Their frontline needs work, as they were held goalless in their last three league matches.

Top scorer Lorenzo Colombo must return to the Serie A 2026 highlights reel for Il Grifone to stand a chance against his mother club, just like he did in their 1-1 draw during the reverse fixture. The 24-year-old centre-forward has seven league goals thus far.

Betting tip – AC Milan Asian Handicap -0.75 @ 2.00

AS Roma vs Lazio

AS Roma are fast climbing into the top four in Serie A, as they are unbeaten in their last five matches

The latest edition of the Derby della Capitale has been moved to Sunday, as Lazio are fresh from a brutal 2-0 loss to Inter Milan in last night’s Coppa Italia final. AS Roma won the reverse fixture at Stadio Olimpico and are planning to complete a league double over Lazio.

AS Roma are fast climbing to the Top 4, as they’re unbeaten in their last five (W4, D1). During this stretch, Gian Piero Gasperini’s side has picked up the scoring, pouring in 13 goals while conceding only three.

Donyell Malen has accounted for almost half of their goals during their undefeated streak (six), including a hat-trick against Pisa, where they won 3-0. Because he has been such a revelation this year, AS Roma unsurprisingly triggered his €25 million buy clause to pry him away from Aston Villa permanently. Besides Malen, Lazio will also have to worry about Matias Soule, as the 23-year-old attacking midfielder is AS Roma’s second-leading scorer and top playmaker with six goals and five assists.

Before losing the Coppa Italia final, Lazio have also lost to Inter Milan in their last league match (3-0). What made the defeat even worse was Alessio Romagnoli’s straight red card, depriving them of one of their best defenders this weekend.

Lazio’s attack has been by committee this term, with Gustav Isaksen, Matteo Cancellieri, Tijjani Noslin, and Pedro combining for 17 goals. Danilo Cataldi and Toma Basic are the Biancocelesti’s top creative hubs with three assists each.

Betting tip – AS Roma Asian Handicap -1.25 @ 2.36

Juventus vs Fiorentina

Juventus are also among the most in-form teams in Serie A today. The Bianconeri are unbeaten in their last 10 league contests (W6, D4), including last weekend’s 1-0 win over Lecce, as Dusan Vlahovic scored the third-fastest Serie A goal of the past two decades. It was one heck of a way for Vlahovic to return to the starting lineup for the first time since November. The Serbian striker had been out for so long due to a serious adductor injury.

Fiorentina are winless in their last four league matches and are also out of the Europa Conference League, losing to Crystal Palace in the quarter-finals. During this stretch, they’ve only mustered one goal.

Betting tip – Juventus Asian Handicap -1.50 @ 1.98
