SS Lazio vs Juventus FC
It’s become a familiar story to anyone who follows Italian football: it seems that Juventus are unstoppable as they are about to win country’s top flight again while Lazio continue to trip and are on target to miss Champions League football once again.
Of course, it’s bad to expect that a league such as the Serie A would be this stagnant when it comes to the winner’s circle, but it’s hard to make any other picks when the Bianconeri keep on fielding such strong sides that can easily dominate whoever they face in the league.
If you ask any SBOBET Serie A fan, they would say that this game is an easy triumph for Juventus. However, a team like Lazio have quality players that could help them get the job done against the league’s long-standing giants.
The question now is whether Simone Inzaghi can organise his team in a way that can pull the rug under the weight of a footballing giant like Juventus.
Talking Points
Juventus still look as invincible as ever
The Old Lady still looks as indomitable as ever, and their one-sided pounding of Chievo is a case study of why the Turin club is the Italian top flight’s defending champions for seven straight seasons.
They play fantastic attacking football, and their players are more than capable of delivering the goals through Max Allegri’s favourite 4-3-3.
Cristiano Ronaldo established himself as the alpha in a star-studded side like Juventus, and his current season’s credentials back up his braggadocio on and off the pitch. He has already scored 14 goals, and eight of them were opening goals in Juve’s 20 matches so far this season. With the way things are going, it’s not hard to expect the Portugal captain to keep on adding to his tally.
However, he’s not the only noteworthy individual to bang in the goals for the Bianconeri faithful. Mario Mandzukic is reaping the benefits of sharing the pitch with Ronaldo as he has bested his goal hauls two seasons ago, but the eight-goal man may not feature this match. Joao Cancelo, Paulo Dybala, Alex Sandro, and Miralem Pjanic are also thriving this season.
Moreover, their future still looks as secure as ever. Their coup of a future acquisition in Aaron Ramsey is the biggest Serie A 2019 news so far and got people wondering as to why he made the move in the first place.
I can’t blame Ramsey, though: who wouldn’t want to play Champions League football behind one of the greatest talents to ever grace the sport?
Lazio still looking for footballing answers
It’s still hard to tell where Lazio went wrong with their preseason preparations, but it’s clear to everyone that sixth is the last place they would like to find themselves in at this point of the season.
There are currently nine clubs in contention for the last Champions League spot as Juve, Napoli, and Inter have all but secured their tickets to the big dance. Lazio cannot afford to slack around whenever they compete with clubs like Milan, Roma, Atalanta, and Sampdoria all vying for fourth.
They are stuck in this undesirable race because they haven’t been able to close out games against rivals who are on their level. The biggest example of their dismal display top-class competition is their narrow defeat to Napoli last time out.
Inzaghi knows that it wouldn’t take long before he is the next person in the hot seat if he isn’t able to produce any relevant results. Some may point that his insistence with a three-in-the-back formation is causing him problems, but they have won nine times by using this system.
Knowing this, it would be up to the players to pull off the upset of the season. Sergej Milinkovic-Savic, Ciro Immobile, and Lucas Leiva need to work hard and pull the team past a resolute Juventus backline that has conceded only 11 goals so far this season.
There are people especially hoping that Savic could pull the strings from midfield as he is linked to a couple of big clubs and may depart from the club in the summer.
History
The two sides have plenty of history together, playing each other since 1995. Of the 60 games they played, 33 of those went to Juventus; Lazio won 15 while the remaining 12 were draws. Five of their last seven matches were convincingly won by the Old Lady, but Lazio put on a fighting performance against them in 2017.
On an interesting note, Juventus are chasing an invincible season, a feat they haven’t replicated since 2011. Meanwhile, Lazio haven’t tasted Champions League football since their 2015/16 campaign.
Betting Tip
Lazio vs Juventus | Juventus, Asian Handicap -0.75 @ 2.20 | |

I don’t think Juventus will buckle here of all places.
While Lazio are still a great football team, they just don’t have the proper quality to see off a team like Juventus. Milinkovic-Savic will be on heck of a footballer, but he is still too young to make a dent on a player like Ronaldo.
If you want more big paydays, you can consider going for the underdog in the 1X2 and the Double Chance markets. The Total Goals market is also a good place to go to as Juventus have always struggled against Lazio when it comes to winning big at the Stadio Olimpico.
