Mad Monday Serves Up a Tasty Clash in the Capital!

Chelsea versus Manchester United, Antonio Conte versus Jose Mourinho, Alvaro Morata versus Romelu Lukaku…what a game at Stamford Bridge!

It’s a dream for neutrals and sports betting fans but could be a nightmare for one of the bosses involved, and there’s a lot of pressure on both.

While Manchester City continue its amazing campaign at home to Arsenal, where betting odds point to yet another win, the other Sunday football games see the chasers, Spurs included, work out how they can keep up.

WEEK 11 SATURDAY:

Southampton vs Burnley

Burnley head to the south coast ignoring all the noise surrounding their own boss Sean Dyche, as football pundits continue to heap praise on the much sought-after coach. The Saints are unbeaten in three and could draw level with the seventh-placed Clarets with a win, but Burnley as ever will make them fight for every ball.

Newcastle United vs Bournemouth

Rafa Benitez, too, has his Newcastle team well organised and that’s maybe something Eddie Howe could take note of. The Cherries are still playing attractive football, but that sees them in 19th place currently. Newcastle are strong at home, so maybe it’s time for Bournemouth to tough one out.

Stoke City vs Leicester City

The Foxes got off to a winning start under new boss Claude Puel, and Jamie Vardy scored, as he always does when there’s a change at the helm. Two wins in the last five have lifted Stoke to 14th, and they can overtake Leicester with another victory.

Huddersfield Town vs West Bromwich Albion

This season’s romantic story sees the Terriers, having halted their slide by beating Manchester United, face up to one of the Premier League’s arch pragmatists. Tony Pulis’ Baggies are on a poor run and these are the games Huddersfield need to thrive in, but a point would suit both.

Swansea City vs Brighton & Hove Albion

The Swans sit outside the drop zone on goal difference alone and seem to be missing the quality of summer departures Gylfi Sigurdsson and Jack Cork, whereas Brighton are settling to life at the top table quite happily so far. The Seagulls are three unbeaten and four points clear of their hosts.

WEEK 11 SUNDAY:

Tottenham Hotspur vs Crystal Palace

How Spurs would have loved to have Harry Kane last week against Manchester United, and hope he’ll be fit to face Palace. Mauricio Pochettino’s team can make a move on second place while Chelsea and United slug it out, while the poor Eagles, on four points, still haven’t got off the ground.

West Ham United vs Liverpool

Liverpool’s win against Huddersfield was the first in four, and Jurgen Klopp’s team have drifted 12 points off the pace. His opposite number, Slaven Bilic, remains under pressure having surrendered a two-goal lead against Palace last week. This game will be a tough examination of both.

WEEK 11 MONDAY:

Chelsea vs Manchester United

All’s not well at the Bridge after Chelsea rolled over in Rome. These players have a history of dumping managers, the last being Jose of course, and he would love to cause more problems for his successor. This will be a tasty affair, not for the faint-hearted and probably not a football feast, but certainly not to be missed.

Everton vs Watford

The other Monday game sees manager-less Everton try to get a much-needed win against the Hornets. Watford will be without Troy Deeney, the talisman beginning a three-match ban after his scuffle with Stoke’s Joe Allen. This is an opportunity for the Toffees as Watford also arrive with back-to-back defeats.
