A Little Test for the Big Chasers this Midweek!

The Bundesliga season is nearing its halfway point, so the chasers are all but determined to cut Bayern Munich’s lead at the top before the campaign heads to the winter break.

Leipzig and Schalke are the closest contenders to the Bavarians, but betting odds point that they will have a difficult time to stay in touch with the online betting favourites in their Week 16 football games.

WEEK 16 WEDNESDAY:

VfL Wolfsburg vs RB Leipzig

Wolfsburg have drawn nine of their 15 matches to start the season, so they are undoubtedly a threat to Leipzig. Playing at home should also give them an edge against the Bulls that have only won three times on the road.

Leipzig have Timo Werner firing well, though the Wolves have enough firepower with Daniel Didavi and Divock Origi to counter him. If you’re punting, Wolfsburg Draw No Bet @ 2.21 is the best choice.

SC Freiburg vs Borussia Monchengladbach

Gladbach remain inconsistent, but fighting relegation-threatened Freiburg shouldn’t be a problem. After all, Freiburg don’t have much to show offensively, having scored only 13 goals up to this point while conceding 28 in the process.

Hamburger SV vs Eintracht Frankfurt

Frankfurt did well in their loss to Bayern the last time out, and if they can dominate possession again and finish better in front of the net, they can very well take down Hamburg. It won’t be easy though as the home side are unbeaten in three now, all of which are clean sheets.

Mainz 05 vs Borussia Dortmund

After the sacking of coach Peter Bosz, Dortmund need to respond and show they still have what it takes. Mainz aren’t a top-calibre team, but they did hold second-placed Leipzig to a 2-2 draw after going behind twice.

WEEK 16 THURSDAY:

Hoffenheim vs VfB Stuttgart

Stuttgart have only won once in their last five, and it’s not looking good for them as they face a top-six club in Hoffenheim. It shouldn’t also help that they’ll be visiting the WIRSOL Rhein-Neckar-Arena with their poor away form.

Hertha BSC vs Hannover 96

Hannover snapped their four-game winless run with a 2-0 demolition of Hoffenheim, and that performance should put them in high spirits against the inconsistent capital club. It should also give them a boost that Martin Harnik and Niclas Fullkrug are back to their scoring ways.

Schalke 04 vs Augsburg

Undefeated in nine league games, Schalke are in incredible form and will be hard to stop. Augsburg, however, should have a fighting chance with Michael Gregoritsch and Alfred Finnbogason on target in their recent fixtures. A draw is a likely result here, so bet on Augsburg Asian Handicap +0.50 @ 2.08.

Bayer Leverkusen vs Werder Bremen

Although Bremen will be confident heading into this match following their stunning win over Dortmund, it’s still doubtful they can replicate that performance. Not against Bayer who are not only unscathed in their last 10 but also rank as one of the best scoring teams in the league.

Bayern Munich vs FC Koln

Top meets bottom in a fixture that has all the signs of a one-sided affair. Bayern are guaranteed of the top spot until Christmas for a reason, and the Billy Goats just don’t look capable of pulling off an upset considering their lack of depth and quality on both ends of the pitch. Expect a hot start from Bayern on First Half Asian Handicap -1.25 @ 1.99.
