La Liga: Real Sociedad Looking to Ride Hot Hand Against Sevilla

Sevilla vs Real Sociedad

After back-to-back losses against Real Madrid and Eibar, Sevilla will be looking for home comfort as they host Real Sociedad in the ongoing La Liga.

Julen Lopetegui will be looking to regroup with his men, especially after being demoralised by Eibar with their comeback win last time. That could’ve been their perfect chance to place second at the table with 13 points.

Speaking of the second spot at the table, it was Real Sociedad who took it by overtaking the likes of Atletico Madrid and Athletic Bilbao thanks to their three-game winning streak.

La Real managed to dominate the likes of Atletico Madrid, Espanyol, and Alaves in a three-week span and they would like to keep the momentum going.

Will Real Sociedad add on to Sevilla’s woes? Or will Sevilla find a way to get over their slump?

SBOBET is here to provide you some tidbits ahead on Monday.

Talking Points

La Real youngsters taking over

It’s a bit of a shock when Real Sociedad zoomed at the second spot at the table since they are only projected for a top-six finish this season. Things may even out at some point but looking at the way they’re playing lately should provide some optimism for their fans.

With four wins, one loss, and one draw so far, Imanol Alguacil has done a tremendous job in utilizing his players.

It seems that a switch has been flipped as they’re playing with more effort and inspiration. But more importantly, the chemistry between Martin Odegaard and Mikel Oyarzabal has been growing as each day passes by.

Their chemistry was in full display in their match against Alaves. During the 19th minute of the first half, Odegaard produced one of the best La Liga 2019 highlights so far after a sublime assist to Oyarzabal.

He threaded the needle across three defenders when he saw Oyarzabal cutting inside the box, leaving everyone in shock as they scored their first (of three) goals in that match.

Overall, La Real’s attack proved to be too much for their opponents as they poured in eight goals in a three-week span.

What a way to bounce back, especially after their humiliating loss against Athletic Bilbao earlier this term.  It is still too early, though, especially since we’ve seen this pattern in their last campaign.
Sevilla crashes back to Earth

The Andalusians have had a blistering start to the season as they grabbed 10 quick points defeating the likes of Espanyol, Granada, and Alaves. However, those results are to be expected given their calibre.

True enough, Real Madrid gave them their first test of the season and they got dealt with a reality check. They showed Sevilla composure and patience as they pounced on every chance to score at a goal while the former couldn’t do the same.

Their fixture against Eibar was supposed to be easy for them, but Eibar took advantage of Los Sevillanos’ sloppiness to steal their first win of the season.

They were up 2-0 up until the 66th minute. Eibar went charging back when Fabian Orellana scored a penalty and Pedro Leon equalised 11 minutes later after a defencive blunder by Sevilla. After that, Jose Angel Valdes sealed their fate after a well-placed free kick at the 82nd minute.

Sevilla are unbeaten in their last 12 La Liga games against teams from the Basque Country
Julen Lopetegui is determined to break their losing streak when they face Real Sociedad

“We fell back in the second half. We were more concerned about defending than attacking. We paid the price in the end. We lost a game that was in our hands,” said Sevilla manager Julen Lopetegui after the match.

Mental mistakes kept killing Sevilla in their losing streak and Julen Lopetegui will have to find a way to get his boys to play much better especially down the stretch if they plan to keep up with the league’s upper pantheon.

History

This is expected to be a tight affair as history suggests as Sevilla holds a slim 13-11 advantage in their encounters against Real Sociedad. Overall, they’ve played in 32 total matches and there have been eight draws between them.

La Real’s last win against the Andalusians was a 3-1 victory at their home pitch two years ago.

Betting Tip

??
Sevilla vs Real Sociedad Draw 1×2 @ 3.40
September 30, 03:00 (GMT+8)

For this match, the La Liga 2019 odds have Sevilla at 1.87, Real Sociedad 4.10 and a draw at 3.40 as a testament to the home team’s dominance over the visitors in recent years.

Even with their recent slump, it’s hard to overlook the impact Julen Lopetegui has brought to Sevilla so far in their 2019/20 campaign. And I’m sure that he will find a way to fire up his wards.

As for La Real, it’s exciting to see the continuous development of Martin Odegaard and Mikel Oyarzabal and they’re expected to continue to light up the league for a long time.

We’ve got an exciting match ahead and I won’t be surprised if this ends up in a draw.
