Euro 2020 is shaping up to be the biggest football tournament that every fan should watch out for given its plethora of stars that will be present.
Romelu Lukaku, Cristiano Ronaldo, Kylian Mbappe, and Robert Lewandowski are some of the Golden Boot contenders previously reviewed by my SBOTOP colleague, as their respective teams’ Euro 2020 odds of winning hinges on to their overall form.
Which is why for today, we will examine them one by one to see on how they are doing over these last few weeks while also analysing on how their play affects their mother clubs.
Romelu Lukaku aims to win his first Scudetto
Inter Milan have been on a rampant run as they try to reclaim their first Scudetto in over a decade. The Nerazzurri are at least six points clear above the rest, which makes them the heavy title favourites.
The biggest reason why they have been performing so well is because of Romelu Lukaku’s goalscoring exploits. The Belgian international has been firing on all cylinders with 18 goals and eight assists under his belt, putting him in the running for this season’s Capocannoniere.
Since leaving Manchester United, Lukaku has found a home in Italy – linking up with Alexis Sanchez and Lautaro Martinez to form one of the fearsome attacking combos in all of Europe.
Lukaku has scored four goals in his last four Serie A appearances which led to vital wins over AC Milan, Lazio, Genoa, and Parma. His most impressive goal lately was when he scored against Genoa in the first minute when he was just barely breaking a sweat.
Cristiano Ronaldo looking to bring Juventus out of the ashes
Juventus’ hopes for a La Decima may be in grave danger. But as long as Cristiano Ronaldo is there, you can never count them out in the title race just yet.
I Bianconeri know that it’s now or never if they’re ever going to make a run for the championship. So far, they’ve responded by going undefeated in four of their last five and they will put up a valiant effort to keep the dream alive.
Cristiano Ronaldo is almost singlehandedly willing his team with his attacking prowess as he is the big favourite to win the Capocannoniere with 20 goals. However, he may need to do much more as Andrea Pirlo’s side is severely undermanned as of the moment.
Ronaldo is no longer to stranger to carrying teams when needed especially when it comes to big competitions. The 36-year-old forward has been instrumental to Portugal’s rise as a superpower and he will be tasked to do that again in the upcoming Euros.
Kylian Mbappe being sought after by big clubs
Kylian Mbappe is looking to be the next big thing in Europe after having represented the French national team and Paris Saint-Germain well over the last few years. And he has been a hot topic in our Euro 2020 news as several clubs are lining up for his services.
Liverpool and Real Madrid are reportedly interested in acquiring the exciting young talisman, but PSG will do everything in their power to fend off his suitors.
After hitting a rough patch earlier this season, PSG are back in the title race – trailing only by two points against Nice.
Many thought that PSG might experience a major dip in form after Neymar suffered an adductor injury last month, but the French giants continue to stand tall as Mbappe took it upon himself to shoulder the scoring load.
Along with his superb all-around play, Mbappe’s maturity and poise will go a long way for his budding career both domestically and internationally.
Business as usual for Robert Lewandowski
Bayern Munich will be needing more goals for Robert Lewandowski in order to successfully defend their title once again.
The Bavarian giants only hold a two-point lead against the second-seeded RB Leipzig, which means that they cannot afford any slip-ups moving forward.
The good thing for them is that Lewandowski continues to score at will. The Pole is the outright leader for scoring in the Bundesliga this season with 28 goals.
Lewandowski is fresh from a solid outing against FC Koln to which he scored a brace and he is showing no signs of slowing down whatsoever.
Die Bayern will have Borussia Dortmund as their next opponent in what should be a fun matchup, and it is certain that Robert Lewandowski will be eager to send the likes of Erling Haaland and Jadon Sancho to school.
