Remarkable Dortmund are Unbeaten at Home No More!

Borussia Dortmund 2-3 RB Leipzig

After 41 Bundesliga football games at the Signal Iduna Park, Dortmund’s unbeaten home run finally came to an end.

BVB had most betting websites backing them in the match, and they appeared to be on their way to another easy victory after Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang pushed them in front with a fourth-minute opener.

Despite Emil Forsberg and Timo Werner sitting on the bench, however, the raging Red Bulls didn’t panic and instead retained their composure to battle back from a goal down and turn around the betting odds.

It didn’t take long for Leipzig to restore parity, with Marcel Sabitzer heading the equaliser on 10 minutes. Then, 15 minutes later, they surprisingly took the lead as Bruma disrupted the Dortmund defence with an excellent run on the left wing, which eventually left Yussuf Poulsen open for the easy tap-in.

Dortmund tried their best to get back into the game, fielding the sensational Christian Pulisic to spark the midfield. Nonetheless, he wasn’t of much help as Leipzig took their tally to three just a few moments after the break.

Sokratis Papastathopoulos received a red card for a professional foul inside the penalty area, and Jean-Kevin Augustin nicely converted the ensuing spot-kick.

The game wasn’t over though as Leipzig were also reduced to 10 men just before the hour mark. And in the 64th minute, Aubameyang pulled BVB back within striking distance, bagging his second from the penalty spot after he was fouled by Bernardo.

The 2-3 scoreline led to a frantic finale as Peter Bosz’ men sought for a leveller. However, Leipzig held on and denied the home side any chance of a comeback.

With the loss, Dortmund also had their unbeaten record this season end. Though, they remain on 19 points—still good enough for the No.1 spot.

Meanwhile, Leipzig climbed to third with 16 points.

On the other games, Jupp Heynckes had a brilliant return as the Bavarians’ boss, guiding Bayern Munich to a 5-0 demolition of Freiburg.

Additionally, Hoffenheim dropped to fourth with a 2-2 draw against Augsburg, while both Schalke and Frankfurt go up with victory over Hertha BSC and Hannover 96, respectively.

Mainz, meanwhile, extended their undefeated streak to three with a 3-2 win over Hamburger SV. In contrast, FC Koln stay winless after their 2-1 loss to VfB Stuttgart.
