Bayer Leverkusen were a huge disappointment to their supporters after allowing Borussia Monchengladbach to return from a 2-0 deficit to win 3-2. They have a ticket to redemption with an upcoming match against Hamburg. The hosts have lost two of their first games of 2017, and things aren’t looking bright when they play Leverkusen at home.
Bayern Munich vs Schalke 04
Bayern Munich are still trying to get away from Leipzig, only leading by three points. While they can only hope for an unexpected defeat for the Red Bulls, they can always ensure their lead by winning their league games. Schalke may look inconsistent on paper, but they can more than pounce on any weaknesses. However, I doubt Carlo Ancelotti is taking them lightly.
This game should be fairly close, but the Bavarians should come out of this victorious. With that being said, a sound betting option should be Schalke +1.75 @ 2.12.
Borussia Monchengladbach vs Freiburg
Dortmund aren’t the only Borussia suffering in the league: Monchengladbach are struggling to consistently win, only getting seven points out of a possible fifteen. They might find difficulty in trying to snag all three points from Freiburg, a club performing well in the league. Both sides can win the game, and it all falls down to who wants the three points more.
Hertha BSC vs Ingolstadt
These two teams are on opposite sides of the table and also experiencing opposing trends: Berlin can’t stop their losing skid while Ingolstadt are steadily climbing out of relegation. I won’t be surprised if the visitors actually stun the capital with a shock win at Olympiastadion Berlin.
Koln vs Wolfsburg
Koln bared their horns against Darmstadt, mercilessly beating them 1-6 away from home. This fine shooting form brings nothing but bad news for Wolfsburg, a team squandered by Augsburg 1-2 last weekend. Anthony Modeste will be his usual self, posing a lot of danger for the hapless Wolfsburg defence.
Hoffenheim vs Mainz 05
Hoffenheim suffered a rough beating when they visited the Red Bull Arena at Leipzig, as the prolific new boys outplayed them all over the pitch. Hoffenheim definitely want to remain in contention for a Champions League spot, so a win against Mainz is a priority.
The visitors have proven that they can compete with the best of them, drawing against a strong Borussia Dortmund side. Julian Nagelsmann will need to think up of plans to overtake Mainz’s defence and score goals.
WEEK 19 SUNDAY:
Borussia Dortmund vs RB Leipzig
This is a tough game for the Black and Yellow, simply put. The last time these two clubs clashed, Leipzig came out on top despite all of the possession Dortmund had. Thomas Tuchel needs sublime performances from key players like Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang, Sokratis and Ousmane Dembele if they want to stop the young Bulls from winning.
I think the Yellow Wall will keep the hosts in contention, but I’m afraid that we will see a repeat of last time. The sensible punt at this time is RB Leipzig +0.50 @ 2.03.
Augsburg vs Werder Bremen
Werder Bremen need this win more than Augsburg as they are risking a drop to the relegation zone if they lose. Serge Gnabry will surely try to bring goals for his team, but it is vital for the Santiago Garcia-led defence to stop Augsburg from threatening the keeper.
WEEK 19 MONDAY:
Eintracht Frankfurt vs Darmstadt 98
Darmstadt aren’t having a good 2017 at all, with their most recent league game being stomped by Cologne at home. While Frankfurt aren’t the most stable team in the league, they are still sitting at the top end of the table with a positive goal difference. This should be an easy win for the hosts, and Frankfurt -1.00 @ 2.09 is a bargain.
