Even with Bayern Munich confirmed as Bundesliga champions for the second straight year, and the rest of the Top 6 already settled, there’s still so much to play for in the final matchday of the 2025-26 campaign, as three more teams are eager to book their European football spots next season.
SC Freiburg, Eintracht Frankfurt, and Augsburg will vie for the lone Europa Conference League berth, while VfB Stuttgart, Hoffenheim, and Bayer Leverkusen jockey for position, either in the Champions League or Europa League. As of this writing, SC Freiburg have a slim one-point lead over Eintracht Frankfurt and Augsburg, but Augsburg are the most in-form side among them.
On the other hand, the relegation battle is also heating up, with VfL Wolfsburg, Heidenheim, and FC St. Pauli eager to get out, and they’re all level at 26 points apiece.
Without further ado, SBOTOP lists some of the most important matches on Matchday 34.
Eintracht Frankfurt vs VfB Stuttgart
Head coach Albert Riera continues to draw scrutiny given Eintracht Frankfurt’s recent stretch of Bundesliga 2026 results. Since their 2-1 win over VfL Wolfsburg last month, Die Adler dropped points in their last four matches, losing to RB Leipzig (3-1), Hamburg SV (2-1), and Borussia Dortmund (3-2), while settling for a 1-1 draw against Augsburg.
And now they’re up against VfB Stuttgart, whom they’ll host at Deutsche Bank Park on Saturday, and beating them is much easier said than done. Die Schwaben won 3-2 in the reverse fixture at the turn of the year, as Ermedin Demirovic, Deniz Undav, Nikolas Nartey, Rasmus Kristensen, and Ayoube Amaimouni were on the scoresheet.

VfB Stuttgart are undefeated in four of their last five, including last weekend’s 3-1 win over Bayer Leverkusen. After falling behind in the opening minute because of Aleix Garcia’s goal, Ermedin Demirovic, Maximillian Mittlestadt, and Deniz Undav sparked the comeback. And they need to beat Eintracht Frankfurt to confirm their Champions League return.
Die Schwaben have already surpassed last season’s tally of 50 points, and their 61 points this term are a significant improvement. Look for them to exploit Die Adler’s porous defence, ranked third-worst in the league, which has conceded 63 goals.
Betting tip – VfB Stuttgart Asian Handicap -0.75 @ 2.13
SC Freiburg vs RB Leipzig
Unlike the others in today’s preview, SC Freiburg has two chances of qualifying for Europe next season. If they win the Europa League final against Aston Villa, they’ll outright confirm their Champions League spot. But if they don’t, they can secure a Europa Conference League spot upon beating RB Leipzig this weekend.
Since their 2-1 win over Heidenheim last month, Julian Schuster’s men have dropped points against Borussia Dortmund (4-0), VfL Wolfsburg (1-1), and Hamburg SV (3-2). They’re also out of the DFB-Pokal, losing to VfB Stuttgart in the semi-finals (2-1).
Igor Matanovic holds the key to SC Freiburg’s fortunes. The Croatian striker is the team’s top scorer with 10 goals, following his brace last time out, despite only becoming a regular starter in the second half of the season.
RB Leipzig are safe in the Top 3 after winning six of their last seven. Ole Werner’s side will look to finish the season strong, with Christoph Baumgartner and Yan Diomande spearheading the charge, having notched 25 goals and 15 assists combined.

Union Berlin vs Augsburg
Augsburg are on the verge of returning to Europe after a 10-year hiatus. But certain results need to fall their way, per the Bundesliga 2026 odds. Besides taking care of business against Union Berlin, Manuel Baum’s men will also hope that SC Freiburg and Eintracht Frankfurt lose their games.
Since their 5-2 loss to VfB Stuttgart last March, Augsburg have gone undefeated in their last six, including back-to-back 3-1 triumphs against Werder Bremen and Borussia Monchengladbach. Fabian Rieder, Anton Kade, and Michael Gregoritsch are the team’s joint top scorers with six goals apiece.
Union Berlin are coming off a 3-1 win against Mainz, marking Marie-Louise Eta’s first win as the Bundesliga’s first female head coach. Andrej Ilic, Oliver Burke, and Josip Juranovic were on the scoresheet for Die Eisernen. Burke is their leading scorer with six goals, while Ilic is their top playmaker with nine assists.
These two teams shared the spoils in a 1-1 draw at the WWK Arena last January, as Union Berlin’s Marin Ljubicic scored the equaliser in stoppage time to salvage a point after being reduced to 10 men late in the contest.
Betting tip – Total Goals 2-3 @ 2.17
