Barcelona are So Happy to be Back Home

Barcelona march on to the La Liga title with a big win over Valencia, smashing another record for the Catalans.

That’s 39 league football games unbeaten for Barca, which breaks a 38-year record held by Real Sociedad. And that all means the betting odds are so fine that we can see the League Leaders picking up the trophy very soon. Football betting pundits are now backing an unbeaten season.

Barcelona 2-1 Valencia

Former Liverpool star Philippe Coutinho was in scintillating form and it was another ex-Red, Luis Suarez, who benefited from an exquisite through ball to score the opener. Samuel Umtiti made it two, but there were late jitters after Daniel Parejo pulled one back from the spot.

Atletico Madrid 3-0 Levante

Atletico have a pretty firm grip on second place after an impressive win over Levante. The visitors have been in fine form but could do little to stop their hosts, with Angel Correa, Antoine Griezmann and Fernando Torres all firing home. Levante stay 17th and five points above the drop.

Malaga 1-2 Real Madrid

Real Madrid move third after former Malaga man Isco set them on the way to a narrow victory. He put Los Blancos ahead with a beautifully crafted free kick and Casemiro doubled the score with a tap-in just after the hour. Diego Rolan scored a late consolation for the bottom club.

Girona 0-1 Real Betis

Loren Moron fired home a 36th-minute winner, collecting a through ball from Joaquin and holding his nerve to give Real Betis another big win which keeps them fifth. Girona pressed for an equaliser but were frustrated by a well organised Betis defence, and back-to-back defeats have done their own Europa hopes no good at all.

Sevilla 2-2 Villarreal

The Yellow Submarine stay sixth and a point ahead of Sevilla, but it could have been much better after the visitors went 0-2 up and saw Sevilla’s Wissam Ben Yedder sent off on the hour. Dani Raba and Carlos Bacca had given Villarreal the lead before Nolito and Steven Nzonzi saved a point for the hosts.

Leganes 1-0 Celta Vigo

Leganes are as good as safe to look forward to another season in the Primera Division after Miguel Angel Guerrero scored the only goal of the game against Celta Vigo. The visitors still have an outside chance of Europa League football, but could have done without this.

Getafe 1-0 Espanyol

A spectacular free-kick from Damian Suarez was enough to lift Getafe to 10th and within six points of sixth place. Espanyol failed to respond despite gaining a numerical advantage when Mathieu Flamini saw red for a second bad challenge.

Athletic Bilbao 2-3 Deportivo La Coruna

After a shocking season, Depor haven’t quite given up hope, and a second consecutive 3-2 win has their fans hoping for a great escape. Adrian Lopez hit a double to pull Depor to within five points of safety with six games left.

Las Palmas 0-1 Real Sociedad

It’s looking grim though for Las Palmas after going down to a single goal defeat at the hands of Real Sociedad. Mikel Oyarzabal scored the telling goal which dumps the Gran Canarians ten points from safety.

Eibar 0-1 Alaves

Frustration for Eibar as a fifth-minute strike by John Guidetti lifted Alaves to virtual safety and just two points behind their 12th-placed hosts. The Swede’s accurate low strike from outside the box prompted 85 minutes of Eibar pressure but to no avail.
