Remember… If It Crosses the Line, It’s Really a Goal!

That may sound like stating the obvious, but I’m sure those who placed football bets on Barca last week will want it crystal clear!

Without the benefit of goal-line technology, the officials dropped a huge clanger in the big La Liga clash at the Mestalla, failing to spot that Leo Messi’s first-half goal had crossed the line (by some distance). And so, Valencia and Barcelona both maintained their unbeaten records as online betting fans scratched their heads!

WEEK 14 SATURDAY:

Malaga vs Levante

The 14th round of La Liga football games kicks off in Malaga where the 18th-placed hosts need a win to stay in touch with safety. Two victories in four have got their season started, but Levante arrive without a loss in their last four away games. Malaga are at 1.83 to break that sequence, with Levante at 4.40 and the draw 3.40.

Barcelona vs Celta Vigo

There’s absolutely no chance of a goal-line mix up at the Camp Nou after last week’s debacle! Barca are four points clear at the top and are at 1.14 to get back to winning ways, with a draw at 7.40 and a shock away win at 17.00. But the favourites must beware Sisto, La Liga’s leading assist maker, and his seven-goal front man in Iago Aspas.

Atletico Madrid vs Real Sociedad

Atletico remain unbeaten in third place, while Real Sociedad have a real job on to score, let alone get a result. Keeper Jan Oblak has conceded only six goals as Diego Simeone’s side proves a tough nut to crack. Sociedad are unbeaten in five, though, with main man Willian Jose on six goals.

WEEK 14 SUNDAY:

Athletic Bilbao vs Real Madrid

Los Blancos are still eight points off the pace, and an embarrassing home Copa draw with Fuenlabrada won’t have improved Zinedine Zidane’s mood. Aritz Aduriz is Bilbao’s top scorer, with five, but all eyes will be on the recovering Gareth Bale to see if he can galvanize Real.

Sevilla vs Deportivo La Coruna

Fifth-placed Sevilla are just two points behind Real and have eyes on a top-four place, with a very winnable home match against 17th-placed Deportivo. The visitors have won a solitary point in the last three games and will do well to breach the Seville fortress.

Getafe vs Valencia

Second-placed Valencia have a difficult trip to Getafe where the hosts have won back-to-back home games. Midfielder Dani Parejo has been pivotal in much of Valencia’s good work to challenge the top, while Simone Zaza and Rodrigo have shared 17 goals. This is a big test, though.

Leganes vs Villarreal

Leganes dropped to 11th after four consecutive defeats and will look to stem the tide against the Yellow Submarine. Defensive midfielder Ruben Perez has been magnificent for the hosts this season and he’ll need to give his defence plenty of support to keep out Villarreal’s nine-goal Cedric Bakambu.

WEEK 14 MONDAY:

Eibar vs Espanyol

Fifteenth-placed Eibar can leapfrog Espanyol, two positions ahead, with another win, following back-to-back victories in the league. Espanyol struggle to win on the road but they carry a threat in the form of five-goal Gerard Moreno.

Las Palmas vs Real Betis

Nineteenth-placed Las Palmas are in desperate trouble and, having been so strong at home last season, seem to be scared to play in Gran Canaria after losing the last four. The hosts need to be brave to have a chance against eighth-placed Betis, but the visitors are themselves without a win in four.

WEEK 14 TUESDAY:

Girona vs Alaves

The weekend fun wraps up in North Catalonia where hosts Girona are highly fancied to win at home to Alaves, at 1.87 with a -0.75 goal handicap. Bottom club Alaves are already fighting for their life, but there’s always hope.
