Bundesliga: Bayern Munich Looking to Cut Eintracht Frankfurt’s Wings

Bayern Munich vs Eintracht Frankfurt

Bayern Munich remain the team to beat here in the Bundesliga and they are keen on maintaining their red-hot form when they host Eintracht Frankfurt at the Allianz Arena this weekend.

The Bavarian giants are the only undefeated team left after the first six matchdays and their chances of securing their 10th straight title, which looks like an impossible task, are growing bigger by the day.

In stark contrast, Eintracht Frankfurt are in a precarious position in the German top-flight standings. Despite losing only once, Oliver Glasner’s side are at the 14th spot with five points – level with VfB Stuttgart and Augsburg.

For the longest time, Bayern Munich have been a huge thorn on Eintracht Frankfurt’s side, although the latter won in their previous encounter not too long ago.

Eintracht Frankfurt are hungry for their first win of the campaign and they’re hopeful that they’ll catch Bayern Munich on another rare off-night.

As we look forward to another fun encounter between these two sides, read on below as SBOTOP brings you the preview of this contest.

Talking Points

Business as usual for Bayern Munich

Julian Nagelsmann is currently enjoying his time in Munich since he is poised to win his first Bundesliga title ever as head coach.

The Bavarians are unbeaten in all competitions and they are showing no signs of slowing down, despite the games coming in thick and fast.

Robert Lewandowski, who was recently hailed as the goalscoring king of Europe, failed to score for the first time in quite some time against Greuther Furth last week. However, it didn’t matter since they got the 3-1 win anyway.

The Pole acted as a decoy which led to scores from Thomas Muller and Joshua Kimmich, and an own goal from Sebastian Griesbeck put the result beyond doubt.

Against Dynamo Kiev yesterday in the Champions League, Lewandowski returned to the scoresheet via a brace to spearhead Bayern Munich’s destruction of the Ukranian side through a 5-0 victory.

For this fixture, Nagelsmann will retain most of his starting XI except for one key player.

Benjamin Pavard will serve his two-game suspension after picking up a red against Greuther Furth, opening more minutes for Niklas Sule and Lucas Hernandez.

Meanwhile, Kingsley Coman is still recovering from his heart surgery while Sven Ulreich and Corentin Tolisso are nursing their knee and calf injuries respectively.

Eintracht Frankfurt lacking scoring punch

The Eagles have yet to lift off this season as they’ve been held back by subpar Bundesliga 2021 results. One loss and five straight draws won’t cut it for Oliver Glasner’s men.

Scoring has been a problem for them especially since Andre Silva moved on to RB Leipzig this summer.

The Portuguese had a career campaign last term with 28 goals in 32 Bundesliga appearances, which is quite hard to replace given their personnel.

Eintracht Frankfurt’s top scorers are the young duo of Sam Lammers and Jens Petter Hauge with two goals apiece, while Filip Kostic is their top playmaker with three assists and one goal.

After winning against Antwerp in the Europa League yesterday, Eintracht Frankfurt are hopeful that their perseverance would finally translate to victories here in the Bundesliga.

History

This weekend will mark the 101st Bundesliga encounter between Bayern Munich and Eintracht Frankfurt.

Of the 100 games played so far, the Bavarians have the upper hand with 55 wins and they’ve scored 203 goals in the process against the Eagles.

Their last meeting took place in February where Eintracht Frankfurt won 2-1, thanks to goals from Daichi Kamada and Amin Younes.

If the Eagles would somehow win this upcoming match, it would be the first time since 1995 to where they a hold a two-game winning streak over the Bavarians.

But Bayern Munich have been solid at home against Eintracht Frankfurt as they’ve won each of their last 12 meetings there, which is their second-longest home winning run since their 14-game streak back from 1978 to 1991.

Betting Tip

??
Bayern Munich vs Eintracht Frankfurt Bayern Munich Asian Handicap -2.25 @ 1.83
October 03, 23:30 (GMT+8)

It’s not a surprise to see Bayern Munich being installed as the favourites in the Bundesliga 2021 odds.

The Bavarian giants are priced 1.14 to win at home, while Eintracht Frankfurt are the massive underdogs at 14.50 and a draw is pegged at 7.20 in the 1X2 market.

Facing a grueling schedule, Julian Nagelsmann is expected to rotate his lineup in order to keep fresh legs at the pitch as much as possible.

Bayern Munich won’t be exactly at full force for this one, but their depth should be enough to overwhelm their visitors en route to their seventh win of the 2021/22 season.
