Serie A: Juventus Hoping for Home Relief Against AC Milan

Juventus vs AC Milan

Juventus find themselves in unchartered territory after a rough first few weeks in the 2021/22 Serie A season and they must pick themselves up quick when they’ll face AC Milan this Sunday.

I Bianconeri were dubbed as one of the favourites to claim the Scudetto after losing it to Inter Milan last season, but so far they’ve been anything but.

Max Allegri’s men have yet to register a victory with two losses and a draw, and they are currently placed 16th at the table.

On the other hand, Juve’s visitors in AC Milan are on a roll to kick off their new campaign. I Rossoneri are at second place behind AS Roma with three wins on the bounce and they’re keen on claiming solo first with a victory here.

Fixtures between AC Milan and Juventus have never disappointed football fans especially in recent occasions. And here at SBOTOP, we expect the same type of match quality from these two proud sides as they’ll square off anew.

Talking Points

Max Allegri has yet to find the winning combo for Juventus

Max Allegri’s Turin homecoming hasn’t gone to plan and there’s increasing pressure on his part to deliver positive Serie A 2021 results.

Juventus’ 2021/22 season started with a 2-2 draw to Udinese, followed by back-to-back defeats to Napoli and newly-promoted side Empoli.

In those three matches, Allegri has tinkered around his formations from 4-4-2, 4-3-1-2, to 4-3-3 just six days ago.

During Wednesday’s visit to Sweden to kick off their Champions League campaign against minnows Malmo, Juventus went to a 4-4-2 and they grabbed their first win in all competitions this season via a 3-0 tally.

Alex Sandro scored the first inside 23 minutes and it was followed up by two quickfire goals from Paulo Dybala and Alvaro Morata right before the half-time break.

Indeed, I Bianconeri are a talented bunch so we expect them to do even better in the next few weeks.

The win against Malmo certainly gives them a huge confidence boost. And if they’ll replicate their performance on Sweden this Sunday, they should be able to give AC Milan a huge run for their money.

Giroud is in, Ibrahimovic’s status remains uncertain

AC Milan’s three-game winning streak is quite impressive considering the fact that their frontline has been in flux.

Stefano Pioli has opted to put Ante Rebic out front more as Olivier Giroud and Zlatan Ibrahimovic have dealt with fitness concerns lately.

AC Milan will rely on Olivier Giroud to register goals against Juventus in their Serie A clash
Olivier Giroud celebrates scoring AC Milan’s third goal against Cagliari at San Siro stadium.

Olivier Giroud contracted the coronavirus last week and he was sidelined in their games against Lazio and Liverpool. Zlatan Ibrahimovic’s body, meanwhile, is showing signs of aging as he has dealt with a knee and an Achilles tendon injury these past few weeks.

Fortunately for I Rossoneri, Giroud is now fully recovered and ready to go – although he isn’t expected to start in this fixture.

As for Ibrahimovic, the club plans to have a cautious approach for him so we expect the big Swede to sit this game out.

History

Juventus hold the advantage in the overall head-to-heads versus AC Milan. In their 235 matches prior to this weekend, Juventus have won in 92 while AC Milan have won 68 along with 75 draws.

However, AC Milan have been a huge thorn on Juventus’ side especially in recent occasions.

Stefano Pioli’s side has won two of their last three Serie A games against Juve, which is as many as in their previous 17 fixtures (D1, L14).

The previous encounter between these two took place last May where AC Milan crushed Juventus with a 3-0 score as Brahim Diaz, Ante Rebic, and Fikayo Tomori put in one goal each.

I Bianconeri are in danger of being winless in their first four Serie A games for the fourth time in club history. The last time that this happened was way back in the 1961/62 season.

Betting Tip

??
Juventus vs AC Milan Juventus Asian Handicap -0.00 @ 1.59
September 20, 02:45 (GMT+8)

Juventus are backed by the Serie A 2021 odds as the marginal favourites to win at 2.16, while AC Milan are priced at 3.20 and chances for a draw are at 3.40 in the 1×2 market.

As of the moment, the Rossoneri look like the better team and they hold the upper hand heading into this contest. However, Juventus still possess enough quality at their disposal to pose a major challenge.

The law of averages say that Juventus aren’t going to stay winless for long, and what better way to end their drought than against a strong squad like AC Milan this weekend.

A SHORT EXPLANATION ON HOW OUR (??) BETS ARE WORTH:
