RB Leipzig vs Eintracht Frankfurt
Julian Nagelsmann and his Red Bulls go back home to the Red Bull Arena as they’ll host Eintracht Frankfurt on Sunday night.
RB Leipzig will continue their push towards their first-ever Bundesliga title and they have a prime opportunity at their hands if things fall into place.
Die Roten Bullen are placed second in the German top-flight standings with 53 points and they aren’t going nowhere soon. They are winners of six straight games, and that shortened the gap between them and defending champions Bayern Munich to only two points.
Meanwhile, their visitors in Eintracht Frankfurt remain steady at fourth with 43 points. They too have been on a surprising run lately, but they were stopped on their tracks and they’ll be raring to bounce back.
A win here is in order for these two clubs given their respective objectives.
RB Leipzig’s title aspirations are crystal clear. On the other hand, Eintracht Frankfurt will look to strengthen their hold at a Champions League spot.
Bayer Leverkusen and Borussia Dortmund are breathing down their necks and a slip-up cannot happen for Die Adler. But can they put an end to RB Leipzig’s winning streak this weekend?
Read on below as SBOTOP offers the match preview of these two teams.
Talking points
RB Leipzig had a harsh wake-up call
Die Roten Bullen will have little time to get back on their feet after suffering their latest setback.
The Red Bulls were beaten down in the Champions League by Liverpool, as they were crushed with a 4-0 aggregate.
The shocking thing about their defeat is that they weren’t able to score a single goal in those two matches despite having capable weapons at their disposal.
All season long, RB Leipzig have done their scoring by committee as nine of their players have contributed at least four goals.
Unfortunately for the Red Bulls in this match, their leading scorer in Angelino will have to sit out this game again since he is still nursing his muscular injury.
With him sidelined, the likes of Yussuf Poulen, Christopher Nkunku, Emil Forsberg, and Marcel Sabitzer will be spearheading their attack – which is the fourth-best in the league at 46 goals.
Leading at the back will be the trio of Lukas Klostermann, Nordi Mukiele, and Dayot Upamecano. The three played heavy minutes during their clash against Liverpool which might open an area for Frankfurt to exploit since they might be fatigued.
Andre Silva is killing it for Eintracht Frankfurt
If there’s one guy who can take advantage of RB Leipzig’s backline, it will definitely be Andre Silva.
The Portuguese striker has filled up the Bundesliga 2021 highlights with his goals and he is placed third behind Robert Lewandowski and Erling Haaland in the ongoing Golden Boot race.
Silva has been receiving plaudits because of his goalscoring exploits, which is why it’s no longer surprising that several teams in Manchester United, Arsenal, Atletico Madrid, and Bayern Munich have expressed interest in his services.
His asking value would be steep, however, given his ripe age and strong form. And it will be interesting to see on the possible bidding war that might happen in the next few months.
Nonetheless, Eintracht Frankfurt consider themselves lucky to have swooped up the former AC Milan man for a bargain of only €9-M.
History
Frankfurt manager Adi Hutter is hopeful that his history with Julian Nagelsmann will carry over this Sunday.
The veteran tactician has won four of his last six against Nagelsmann while losing once and drawing once.
His team is hard to beat since they’ve only suffered three defeats this term – with all of them coming away from home.
In their reverse fixture last November, both sides were held to a stalemate as Yussuf Poulsen and Aymen Barkok scored one goal apiece for their respective squads.

The Bundesliga 2021 odds point to a victory for the home side this weekend.
RB Leipzig are priced at 1.77 to win, while Eintracht Frankfurt are pegged at 4.20 and a draw is at 3.75 in the 1×2 market.
After spending all season trying to discover their winning formula, it looks like that RB Leipzig have it all figured out – which explains why they are banging in form as of the moment.
Eintracht Frankfurt, of course, are a dangerous club that can give the hosts major problems. But I may side for the hosts to win because of their stronger form and their superior depth.
