Bayern Munich have won seven straight Bundesliga titles and are well on course for No. 8. With nine games remaining in the season, they are on top of the table, four points clear of second-place Borussia Dortmund.
The Bundesliga 2020 odds have the Bavarians as overwhelming favourites to claim another championship, and it’s not hard to see why.
SBOBET is here to lay out the three key reasons as to why the Bundesliga title is headed back to Bayern this season.
1. Flick of the switch
Hansi Flick had a bit of a rocky start as Bayern boss. After winning his first four matches in charge by a total score of 16-0, Bayern suddenly lost back-to-back games at home to Bayer Leverkusen and at Borussia Monchengladbach.
But that turned out to be the only blip in his tenure as he’s gotten the German giants back to their best in a relatively short amount of time.
Since those back-to-back defeats, Bayern’s Bundesliga 2020 results have been immaculate. They have gone undefeated in their last 11 league matches, winning 10 of them. Their unbeaten run in all competitions is currently at 15 matches, with 14 wins.
With that impressive record, it was no surprise that Bayern finally decided to make Flick their manager permanently.
The days of Bayern looking wobbly under Niko Kovac look to be behind them thanks to Flick, who has flicked the switch to turn Bayern back into a juggernaut.
And based on how they were playing before the break in play, it seems highly unlikely that Bayern will end up throwing away their four-point lead at the top.
2. Experience factor
Flick may not have too much experience when it comes to managing at the top level, but luckily for him, Bayern have tons of experience up and down the squad.
From captain Manuel Neuer all the way down to Robert Lewandowski, this Bayern side is stocked with veteran players who have been there and done that. Many of them have been part of most, if not all of their seven consecutive championship campaigns, so they know how to win.
The pressure will be at its highest level during the last nine games of the season. Each game is so crucial and any mistake from the top four contenders could be catastrophic.
But Bayern are not like Dortmund, RB Leipzig, or Borussia Monchengladbach. For one, they have a four-point cushion at the top of the table, so they have at least some margin for error.
And even if they do slip up, they are less likely to succumb to the pressure. Just look at last year’s exciting title race, which saw a youthful Dortmund side that led for most of the season start to unravel late after a few bad results, allowing Bayern to swoop in.
There are simply cooler heads at Bayern, ones that should prevail in handling the heat when it comes late in the year.
3. Squad quality and strength in depth
But apart from the manager and the experience, the fact of the matter is that Bayern’s squad is simply better than their challengers.
Obviously, there’s world-class talent in abundance with leading scorer Lewandowski, top assist man Thomas Muller, as well as Joshua Kimmich, Serge Gnabry, Thiago, and David Alaba, who are among the very best at their respective positions.
Dortmund and Leipzig possess top-quality talent as well with the likes of Jadon Sancho and Timo Werner, but they are still short of Bayern’s sheer quantity of star-calibre players.
Perhaps more importantly, there doesn’t appear to be a glaring weakness in Bayern’s squad. The defence was a bit of an issue earlier in the season due to injuries, but with Niklas Sule set to return, that should be less of a concern moving forward.
Benjamin Pavard — one of the hidden gems of the Bundesliga — has settled in nicely in his first season at the club, while Alphonso Davies has been one of the breakout stars of the campaign at left-back.
The likes of Dortmund and Leipzig can only dream of calling on the likes of Philippe Coutinho, Ivan Perisic, and Javi Martinez from their bench like Bayern can.
With all the options at their disposal, Bayern have a squad that’s capable of adjusting to any situation that might come their way, which makes them so dangerous and difficult to beat for the title.
