International Friendly: Brazil, Senegal to Put on a Show in Singapore

Brazil vs Senegal

Brazil are slated to host a couple of International Friendly matches at the Singapore National Stadium and fans over there are in for a huge treat. The first one up will be against Senegal on Thursday and they will go up against Nigeria a few days later.

The International Friendly 2019 odds clearly favour the Brazilians in this match, given they are currently ranked third overall in the FIFA World Rankings. However, it’s expected that 20th ranked Senegal will do their best to give the five-time World Champions a run for their money.

A sellout crowd like five years ago is to be expected in this game, since fans will be eager to see the quality and flair brought by these two teams.

With these two squads boasting some of the world’s finest players, this may turn out to be a high-scoring game that would produce some of the best International Friendly 2019 highlights and we here at SBOBET can’t wait.

Talking Points

Stacked deck for Brazil

The Selecao are ranked third overall for good reason, as they have been one of the most dominant teams in the world for quite some time now. They are, in fact, the best there is in South America with five World Cups and 11 Copa America titles under their belt.

It can be remembered that they won the most recent Copa America and they did it in outstanding fashion. After scoring two goals in their finals fixture against Peru, Gabriel Jesus was sent off after he obtained his second yellow card of the match. However, the Brazilians had the win in the bag anyway, and they ended their Copa America drought with a 3-1 victory.

During the last international break in September, the Brazilians went toe-to-toe against Colombia and they won again versus Peru in what was a replay of the Copa America, giving them all the momentum ahead of this match.

As usual, the reggae boys will be bannered by the likes of Fabinho, Thiago Silva, Philippe Coutinho, Gabriel Jesus, and Neymar, who has been doing well since his return to national team duty last month.

With a stacked roster in place for head coach Tite, he will have the enviable task of choosing his lineups for their upcoming friendly games against Senegal and Nigeria.

Senegal’s youth movement

The Teranga Lions have been on the rise over these past few years and their growing talent continues to be in full display, especially in the recently concluded AFCON tournament and in the ongoing African Nations Championship.

Although they have fallen short against Algeria in the AFCON Finals, the future is looking bright for them under the tutelage of Aliou Cisse.

In the ongoing African Nations Championship, the Lions have dominated Liberia in the first leg, and they recently won against Guinea in their first game at the second leg.

For this upcoming match against the Brazilians, Cisse opted to infuse more youth into their national team pool. Experienced veterans like Youssouf Sabaly, Moussa Konate, Pape Abou Cisse, Henri Salvet, Alfred Ndiaye, and Mbaye Digne were omitted in favour of the Europe-based sextet of Pape Djibril Diaw, Racine Coly, Sidy Sarr, Mamadou Loum Ndiaye, Famara Diédhiou and Habib Diallo.

Sadio Mane face off with Neymar on Thursday in the International Friendly

“The choice of this 23-man squad is to prepare for the future while keeping a core balance of the team,” said Cisse.

“Our ambition is to win but the major satisfaction that matters the most is that Senegal will play against a top-ranked nation, and the players will compete against quality players,” he further mentioned.

Liverpool forward Sadio Mane, Napoli defender Kalidou Koulibaly, and Watford’s Ismaila Sarr will lead Senegal in this friendly as they continue their preparations for the 2021 AFCON qualifiers.

Senegal are slated in Group I alongside Congo Brazzaville, Guinea-Bissau and eSwatini in the said tournament.

History

This game on Thursday will mark the first time that these two national teams will meet in an International Friendly.

Brazil’s last trip to the Singapore National Stadium was back in 2014 where 55,000 fans witnessed Neymar led the team against Japan with a 4-0 tally.

Betting Tip

??
Brazil vs Senegal Brazil 1×2 @ 1.40
October 10, 20:00 (GMT+8)

As mentioned, Brazil are the hot favourites in this one at 1.40. I expected higher odds for Senegal, but they are pegged at 8.25 as of this writing while odds of a draw are at 4.10.

Brazil will have no trouble in netting goals in this one but the same can be said for Senegal as well. However, a healthy Neymar could spell all the difference for the Samba boys and I’m looking at a 3-1 tally for this game.
